Full game and first expansion will be available November 7th at CardsAgainstHumanity.comThe makers of Cards Against Humanity, the best-selling party game for horrible people, have announced a brand new expansion that will be available on November 7th. The expansion features 80 white cards, 20 black cards, and, for the first time, blank cards which will allow players to seamlessly add their own suggestions and inside jokes to the game. The expansion will be available for purchase at http://www.CardsAgainstHumanity.com for $10.
In addition to the new expansion, Cards Against Humanity, which has been sold out since July, will be available in limited supply for $25.
Cards Against Humanity is also available under a Creative Commons license as a free do-it-yourself download at http://www.CardsAgainstHumanity.com.
Cards Against Humanity began as a project on Kickstarter.com in December 2010, seeking to raise $4,000 for a first printing. The project was wildly successful, raising over $15,000 in two months from 750 supporters. The game was made available to the public on Amazon.com and instantly shot to the top of the bestsellers lists, becoming the top-selling product on Amazon.com’s game, card-game, and toy categories. The first printing sold out in under one month.
Cards Against Humanity has been called “Simple, yet well-executed” by the Chicago Tribune Puzzler, “pretty amazing” by The Onion AV Club, “the game your party deserves” by Thrillist, and “a game” by The Daily Beast. In his review for Kill Screen Magazine, Mathias Crawford described Cards Against Humanity as “non-sequitur, offensive humor in the vein of my generation’s cultural touchstones like Mr. Show,” and said the game “recruits its players as both writers and actors.”
“We’ve seen a surprising demand for our game,” said Cards Against Humanity co-creator Josh Dillon. “We’ve had an overwhelming level of fan participation since we launched the game, and we’ve been hearing requests for this expansion before we even started thinking about it.”
Ben Hantoot, a co-creator and designer for Cards Against Humanity said, “We hear all the time that Cards Against Humanity has become an important source of shared humor for the groups that play, and our most-requested feature is blank cards that enable players to contribute their own inside jokes. I think they’re going to love how well the new blank cards fit into the game.”
“I feel like we really worked through a lot of our personal issues in this expansion,” said Cards Against Humanity writer and co-creator Eli Halpern.
“Cards Against Humanity is an inside joke that has spiraled out of control,” co-creator Max Temkin said. “We apologize for making this game available to society again.”
